Our Focus

Our consulting practice is just that – a practice, similar to a medical or legal practice which is team-oriented and based on constant learning and updating.  We focus on collaborative partnerships with our clients to improve smallholder farmer access to high quality seed of modern crop varieties.

Sub-Saharan Africa is a wide and varied collection of agricultural and ecological zones, governing systems, farming cultures, and commercial opportunities.  Each crop and country represents a different set of circumstances.  Understanding this, we take a highly customized approach to our work; the services we offer for each client assignment are individually and uniquely determined.

We do not accept assignments that simply check a client’s project or task box.  Rather, we are interested in positive, sustainable systemic change.

Our assignments have addressed a wide range of client needs in the seed sector. Agri Experience has the knowledge and staff capacity to deliver both traditional consulting services and support for implementation at the operating level. Services and support provided to clients have included:

  • Identification of regulatory bottlenecks and solutions
  • Implementation of regulatory change
  • Strategic and operational support for private sector players, including production, processing and marketing support
  • Development of sms-based farmer feedback tools related to seed quality
  • Operational support for agrodealer-led climate smart demoes
  • Surveys of market sector participants (farmers, seed producers, agrodealers, regulators, other)
  • Reviews of development partners’ proposed or ongoing work
  • Design and implementation of radio campaigns related to seed awareness and adoption
  • Operational support for quality control practices, in both public and private sector
  • Development of industry benchmarking tools
  • Capacity building for industry associations, for seed and other agricultural inputs
  • Agrodealer education and development
  • Training for seed companies, input dealers, and scientists

What We Believe

We believe that agriculture is one of the most important sectors in the world, with major impacts on health, nutrition, the environment, security, economies, and social development.

We believe that sub-Saharan Africa has vast untapped agricultural potential, and that African farmers and entrepreneurs should be given the opportunity and tools to tap this potential.

We believe that practical solutions to agricultural challenges, based on deep experience, can deliver significant results in sub-Saharan Africa – and that theory does not substitute for experience.

We believe that Africa’s women farmers should play significant roles in developing agriculture in their countries.
